Hi! I’m Charlotte, and as a neurodivergent person, I rely a lot on my phone to keep me organised. Using apps and alarms helps me maintain habits I struggle to maintain on my own, and having them has given me a higher level of independence and organisation that I would struggle to achieve without resources like these.

I’ve put together a list of my five favourite apps that make my life just a little bit easier as a neurodivergent person; maybe you’ll find something that helps you, too!

  1. Moodflow

Moodflow is the best diary app I’ve used. It lets you log as much or as little as you want with full control over the details of your entries.

The simplicity of selecting different icons to represent my feelings from the day and activities I did helps me to reflect on the day without even having to write anything if I don’t feel up to it. Seeing how I felt each day during my week/month at a glance, represented by colours, helps me to notice recurring patterns in what I do, who I talk to and how it makes me feel.

It’s incredibly reassuring to be able to password-protect your diary, keep things private, and make it much more accessible for me than writing in a physical diary, especially if you get pain in your hands or just find writing difficult, as I do.

  1. Sweepy

Sweepy is a Task-oriented cleaning app that helps me break down the often difficult and overwhelming job of cleaning into small, manageable steps. I find it difficult to maintain cleaning as a habit, and knowing when and how often I need to clean is made much easier by recurring push notifications. It really helps to have a manageable list for each room in your house, with premade tasks or fully custom options. Sweepy has made my cleaning habits easier to maintain, and what used to take me hours I can now do in half the time.

  1. Whering

Whering lets you see your wardrobe at a glance, create outfits, or have outfits recommended to you. It makes picking outfits and sorting my wardrobe so much easier by letting me know exactly what clothes I have and keeping track of what I wear without having to take anything out or make a mess.

Having my favourite outfits saved on my phone without overwhelming myself by taking things out and putting everything away after has made getting dressed something I’ve stopped dreading and can now fully enjoy.

  1. Clue

Clue is my favourite period tracker. Getting reminders about when my period is due, or when I might be experiencing PMS, makes managing my period so much easier.

The depth to which you can log your symptoms and receive details about what regularly occurs during your periods, anywhere from cycle length, variation, or the effects on your mind and body, makes remembering and getting through periods so much easier, especially when you are neurodivergent.

  1. Plant Nanny

Plant Nanny helps you stay hydrated by giving you a plant friend to look after, watering them as you drink throughout your day. I find it extremely difficult to remember to drink, and was constantly tired and dehydrated until I gave Plant Nanny a go.

You input your weight, age, and activity level to see how much water you need per day, and use customisable or pre-made cups to water your plant whenever you finish drinking. Game changer for anyone who finds it hard to stay hydrated.
